Hanging from a Cliff

Hi All!
This picture reallly is how I feel these days, I've climbed a good part of the climb and now I'm stuck. You see I have made greate strides with my health in the last year and a bit and  would say that I'm 60-65% better. I have had set backs with surgery etc otherwise I would be closer to 80% since I switched from synthetic thyroid hormone called levothyroxine (or synthcrap is what myself and others call it) and started taking bioidentical cortisol hormone for my severely ailing adrenal glands (caused by synthcrap).

What has happened to me and I knew it would as my old self awakens, my spirit, the true me is coming through and it is a good thing for sure but it leaves me feeling very stuck. You see I'm not well enough to make a change but well enough to be very very frustrated with my current job environment. I take great pride in my job (even though during my illness I was literally dying inside I never showed it to my customers) and get a huge amount of satisfaction from a job well done as well as  making each and every one of my customers feel special and understood when I design their spaces for them. I choose this career, it was not just happenstance and accept that it is not the same as working with professionals in a fancy kitchen studio but I expect a minimum of enthusiasm and feel that only about 10% of my co-workers  feel the same way as I do.

There are even certain powers that be that have me shaking my head in amazement as well with the decisions or lack of decisions made. Don't get me wrong, I am not a victim. I choose to be here based on my financial needs, for now. If I won the lotto I would definitely move on and go find my ultimate place to be. Instead I will keep climbing the proverbial cliff of health and take it one day at a time, even though daily I want to scream at the top of my lungs out of sheer frustration.

Someone wise once said to me "You are where you are meant to be until you are not meant to be there anymore". I think I'm gonna sign up for a yoga class, maybe that will help. Ahhhhhhhhh! Brrrreeeeaaath!

And here is the place that makes me feel peaceful and happy, even if I can hear the neighbours kids scream nonstop all the time. HA!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Hall Tile Decision

I want to paint our 8ish year old kitchen cabinets
white like this door for a crisper
look than the deep cream colour they are now which will also give more contrast to
our mosaic backsplash. This is one porcelain floor tile
we may choose for the front hallway which leads into the kitchen
and I thought it would be a good idea to pick something that flows visually
with our natural maple floors, backsplash and kitchen counters
since our home is about 1800 square feet with a traditional layout of  separate rooms
that  all have a view to one another with many doorways.

This is another tile.
It has a little more grey tones in it.

Both are under 3.00 a square foot and I like that.

If we go with the larger tile, Todd will cut it in half and
to make a brick pattern and if we go with the smaller one will
lay it just like the mudroom porch floor.

that you can see here

and here, nothing fancy for this
simple cottage style home

My gut is telling me to go with the smaller tile with more
grey in it but I guess I will know after I get to a few
more places to see if there might be anything else worth
looking at.

It's Here!

This has been the most wonderful weekend weather wise so far.
My baskets are done in purples, hot pink, white and lime green
which I love against the watery blue door.

On days like this  I have a hard time leaving home to
get groceries but taking a drive east for 20 minutes
past such beautiful sites as this
makes it much easier.

Aren't they just so beautiful.

I'm also going to check out the garden centre while I'm out and see if I can
pick a few flowers for this window box I found for $18.00 and for
the area below.
The window box just happens to be the exact size as our garage window!

I feel so good and relaxed that I definitely do not need one of these today but
it sure made me laugh when I saw it.

Hope you had a great weekend!

My Best Find Yet

I have long since loved the simple and almost nautical feel of the globe pendant light
like this one called "Calhoun" by Pottery Barn.
At $149.00US and the fact it is not available in Canada I just put it out of my mind
that I would have one.

But today I frequented my favourite antique haunt on the last 15 minutes
of my lunch, and spotted this sitting up on top of a shelf. I thought for a second
it will be too much and saw a sticker marked 200.

I brought it down off the shelf it was on and realized that it was $2.00!

It is missing a ceiling canopy which is easily found
and it's brass finish can be changed with
oil rubbed bronze spray paint and I actually think the smoked
glass will cast a more forgiving kind of light when turned on.

Add one of these beautiful old fashioned filament bulbs and
I will have a stunner of a globe pendant light for less
than 1/15th of the price of a new one.

Now I just have to convince someone  else to
let me hang it somewhere in our house!

What is your best find?
