Our Emma

Just when I think that I don't have enough energy for my dreams to come true, I turn another corner and my prayers are answered.

Her name is Emma!

She is a 5 year old CKC and AKC registered purebred rottweiler with Serbian Champion bloodlines.
We are adopting her from a code of ethics breeder in Kingston who has retired her from breeding and since they work full time  and currently have 6 other dogs, want her to go to a good home where she can get lots and lots of love.
While most dogs don't want to be bothered when it is hot, in spite of the heat yesterday she came to us and leaned in as rotties do for a hug and a pat.

We started looking for another great adult rottie girl  a little while ago and I admit that I started to think that we wouldn't find another like the two unbelievable rottie girls we had previously. You see once you have owned a stable, well bred rottie you will never settle for another breed of dog or one that is not just the right temperment. They are so loyal and loving and if raised right, instinctively protective at the right time (which hopefully will never comes up).

Here is the last of Emma's babies, soooooo darn cute!
Ok, I admit, when I saw her before we met Emma, there was a moment when I thought, mmmmm, maybe we could take this gorgeous bundle of joy home.

This big dude named Enzo was partnered with Emma in her dog yard since she is in heat right now
(and we will bring her home once that is over ) and cannot go near any other females or unneutered males.  Sadly he was returned to them as his owner who bought him as a puppy had become to sick to care for him. This breeder is so amazing and provide life time support to all their puppy buyers and I know they will find a good home for him.

So on the home front, in anticipation of another dog, we have stained the kitchen floors and given one coat of varnish so far with three more to go and love them even more than I thought.
I couldn't believe how the weight of the island had indented our floor which you can see in the middle of the room.
Guess what?!!!
We may not put it back!

Todd is working his tail off on the fence too which has to be done before we bring Emma home as well, so it will be a busy and exciting couple of weeks but I cannot tell you how excited I am.

Have a great week!

Great fences make great neighbours.

We have lived in our wonderful town for just over 11 years and we have been blessed to be surrounded for the most part with interesting and wonderful neighbours. We live on a corner lot and shortly after moving in, the town placed a mailbox right next to your backyard which meant that we had more people stopping by than others.
I have to admit that after a long day working in a noisy store all day long with many interruptions to my design work, helping people, I have forever longed for an my own private oasis to come home to and unwind without having to speak to a sole if I choose to.
Well  Happy Day!
After focusing so much on the interior of our house, we decided to bite the bullet and give ourselves a long time needed privacy fence.

A few posts are in the ground so far and, well, I'm kind of speechless.
This is a much much needed addition to our lives and then we can
perhaps find another kind of addition!

Have a great rest of the week.

Loving, the Living Room and picking a layout.

Hello!
It feels like it's been quite a while and I wish I could say that I've got such incredible changes to show you but I can't, you see I lost my mojo and my stride due to various stresses.
I can't tell you how devastating it is to me, I love life and being active and squeezing a much as I can in a day, and so
I want to say this and I am
VERY VERY SERIOUS.
IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU LOVE ARE EVER TOLD THAT YOU MUST HAVE PART OR ALL OF YOUR THYROID REMOVED BECAUSE OF A GOITER OR EVEN CANCER, OR ARE TOLD YOU NEED TO TAKE RADIOACTIVE IODINE,
PLEASE DON'T !!!
at least you until you have researched all the very serious consequences that will happen as a result.
I am not alone when I say that there are hundreds of thousands of women and even men who are suffering greatly as a result of making the wrong choice.
Research iodine and your thyroid and you will be amazed.
AND GO TO WWW.STOPTHETHYROIDMADNESS.COM
to get you started in the right direction to really understand what I'm talking about.
If I had known then what I know now, I would have fought with all my might to keep my thyroid
and there is not doubt in my mind that my life would be very very different today.

Ok, enough, I said my peace.

What I was able to do was a little accessory shopping at our local  Home Sense.
I admit, I'm very challenged when it comes to choosing accessories but I didn't hesitate when I found these white glass ceramic orbs and a few beachy grey wood frames.

And at a Bed and Bath clearance store nearby I pondered these great cotton 5x8 rugs for just $45.00 each!  That would be $90.00 for an 8x10 rug if I put two of them together and how awesome that they could be thrown in the wash if needed.

The colour doesn't show it here but the in between stitching were in shades of cream and blue.
Simply divine.

Our living room is not big, just 12 x 13 feet but it's where we spend our relax time. It's where we watch TV in the evenings as well as eat dinner and I surf the net and blog here too and so I have been trying to figure out how to squeeze it all in our little space.

I was thrilled to find this great coffee table on kijiji for just $60.00 and lucky me, the nice young lady selling it even dropped it off at my work. I love the size of it for our space and it allows for enough room for the great Ikea ottoman we bought which my honey loves to stretch his legs out on.
With the loveseat in one corner I  get to tuck into the other corner my lovely french chair and a pedestal table.
All these pieces including my side tables need a makeover but I may leave the coffee table alone since it is a very pretty colour works with the tones of the floor. It is a little low so I am considering casters to raise it up and to make it easy to move.

Todd hasn't started the built-ins yet because the wonderful weather turned his attention to yard work and other things but  they will definitely help to balance the room  along with my picture wall behind the sofa when they are done.

So much to do still, pillows, curtains, rug ( yes a rug, I don't want the floor to get scratched) new lamps but I am so happy with the bones of our space.

I have been undecided about a rectangular  dining room table vs a round one
but the round one is winning.
It just makes sense in a square room and when I placed our old coffee table there with our 2 parson chairs it just seemed right. Yep lots to do there too!
I've got a wish, for this space and I'm not sure it will happen but

when I sit in my living room and look this way I was thinking I might like to see,

a beautiful capiz shell chandelier just like this!
well, we'll see, they are usually way too much for our budget but one can dream right?

I have some exciting news to share but won't until it's a done deal for sure.

Have a great week!
